Soldiers and officers

The army needs large numbers of officers and soldiers to operate the defensive, offensive and strategic forces. When additional weapons are purchased, the army automatically recruits officers and soldiers to operate the new weapons.

When weapons are lost in war or reduced by discarding or selling them, the army will reduce its size, as smaller numbers of soldiers and officers are needed to operate the smaller force.

Additional officers, when needed, are recruited from the ranks of medium level managers up to 50 years old. A reduction in the number of officers returns these officers back to the work force and into the group of unemployed medium level managers. There are no unemployed officers as they are in fact medium level managers.

In the same way, there are no unemployed soldiers as they are recruited from the ranks of low-level workers up to 50 years old and when not needed in the army, always return to the ranks of low-level workers.

The army has a priority in hiring the staff it needs. When the army needs a very large number of officers, it may hurt the economy of the country because such hiring of officers may reduce the number of available medium level managers under the level needed by the industry.

Shortages may increase fast if large numbers of weapons are added to the army and many corporation may be forced to reduce their production and later, if the hiring of medium level managers as officers continues to increase, stop operations altogether.

The same applies to the hiring of soldiers who are recruited from the ranks of low-level workers. The numbers here are larger than the number of officers but also the pool of available workers is much larger than that of the medium level managers.

Shortages of soldiers may occur, but the probability of such shortages is lower than in the case of officers. Shortage of medium level managers is showing up in many countries.

Not all low-level workers and medium level managers are candidates for recruitment. The army only recruits from the age groups of 18 to 50. The age groups of 50 - 65 years old are never recruited into the army.

In order to prevent the economy from a collapse as a result of such shortages, messages are printed in the country's newspapers showing that more than 50% of the medium level managers are now recruited into the army.

If even more weapons are purchased and the number of medium level managers in the country is not growing fast enough, a situation may occur where all the medium level managers under 50 are recruited into the army and even more are needed.

If such a situation is reached, the army will be forced to move some of its weapons to the reserves and reduce its size. Moving weapons to the reserves will cut the numbers of officers and soldiers by a factor of 4 for the weapons that are deactivated.

Military units may be disbanded if shortages persist.

When armies are large, the remaining number of medium level managers may not be sufficient and factories may be forced to stop production. The availability of the older managers who cannot be recruited by the army may prevent a total collapse of the economy and give the user some time to increase the education priorities for such managers and reduce the shortage.

The availability of medium level managers is a very important issue. Having a sufficient number of unemployed medium level managers is in fact needed if the army must increase its capabilities and the economy is expected to keep at a high pace. Many players fail to manage this issue and their economy suffers.
