Has there been a change in the status of a country being able to buy weapons, even defensive weapons? My country has no war debt, has outstanding loans and is running a defecit at present. But I cannot even buy defensive weapons as I have with other countries in the past. Is this a change in purchasing weapons?

I've got the same problem in a couple of my countries. Have had it for 4-5 days now. I'm sure it's a bug.

My theory: Losing money in one month kills your budget, and that this is related to the increased spending limit.
I think it hit me too.

This really sucks. It's just another way this game is becoming more and more difficult. Especially for new players and for those who enjoy the war aspect. They make you destroy a country's economy in order to overtake a country, and now they won't let you build a country's infrastructure or defenses until you build a good economy (not easy to do in this current economic climate).
As it stands I think I'm going to have to destroy many trillions of dollars worth of weapons, hospitals, cut people's pay, etc so that I can buy some universities (which are needed to build my economy back up). I have to move the country backwards in order to move it forward. :-/ I can only imagine what this would be like for a new player.
Let's hope this is a bug.

pretty sure it is, and it seems to be vanishing for me.
matty I can trade you any workers you need, as you surely know, if youre lacking people. My universtieis still work fine.
Just list the countries youre having problems in and ill do the work of trying to send you what you need.
Regarding the market...the common market can help a lot, but it takes time. Also, I have a theory. I think the market is headed for a collapse, and w3c will have to intervene again
I could explain it, but its complicated. Explaining it to jozi would probably be an excercise in frustration, at least initially. Good lessons for me to remember though
