Avalon, your rhyme is ok, but Matty is right his has more flavor. Up-jacked from boot camp, must be the new age B.S. for the Training Instructors.

What are you going on about Hector? Is this about our little communiqué re you threatening to attack Illusion right next to my empire and it ended amicable?

I've always thought the 12M were mis-understood and you were only trying to protect yourselves against the percieved threats from the long termers on GR. I am only now beginning to realise how wrong I was.

I dont normally post messages sent to me in private in public, in any form. Besides being a bit of poor form in my opinion, it makes me a bitl ess trustworthy. But since a large part of what I am trying/will be trying to do in the next mid-interval of time is establish the true thoughts and feelings of many players, Ill make an exception in this case (reading "All I see is 12M trying to destroy something that has taken potentially over a year or 2 to build." makes me itch to respond)

Re: Re: BB & new FED Message: Between us. Your war guide in the free worlds, helped me more than ALL the documentation from w3c! Thanks! Enough kissing up. Stay off Lacerta, and we'll be cool!!! lol. I thought about joining the monkeys when you was recruting in WG. But I was in GR allready, and did'nt have the balls of Matty (things were a little tense for presidents here then). I really think we need more new players and more conflict to keep this thing interesting. I'm still playing the free worlds, top 10 all 3. Resets were a wonderfull thing for me. Any advise on my ecconomys here MIGHT win a new continent for the monkeys. Lets talk. AF

Now, AFter reading that, several possiblities come to mind.

1. You are and were trying to play 'both sides of the fence' as it were, and that you were hoping to infiltrate my federation, for what godforsaken purpose, I dont know, since it certainly wouldnt help you any.

2. You are schizophrenic, or have changed your mind.

3. You desire conflict, and think it keeps the game interseting as you messaged me, but only when you personally do not feel truly threatened, and that you do feel that way now.

Obviously, youll have to go with 1 or 2 when speaking to your allies, But I think I think there isnt much doubt about what the answer really is.

Other comments.

The empire was 'fully completely.' It was run by one person, ian stewart, a pirate-like canadian whom we all like wuite a bit :)

His empire still exists. Check for his president name in the rankings.

His country was first attacked by whirrett, and although I was gone at the time, the member of my federation who attacked it was merely being opportunistic.

Fully himself thought conflict was an integral part of the game, and was proud of the experiences he had had in regard to it.

In fact, he got his start on fearless blue, in a fed called 'Krush Kill 'n Destroy', in early 2002 at the same time as he was orchestrating a large war on WG (well..trying to :P). Interestingly enough, I was the only player intersted and capable of working to stop the expansion of that fed. Odd, eh?

His reasons for leaving, as far as I understand from conversations with him, had little to do with the war.

There are a many ways to play out this simulation but 12M are forcing just the military aspect.

The last time I checked the simrankings, one of my countries had the second highest GDP in the game. one of our members had the highest per capita GDP on his planet, and another had second on a differnt planet before moving to GR. I could list a very large number of 'economic accomplishments', but Ill su it up by saying that a large portion of what the collective player body knows about SC economy, they learned as a result of things I said.

I would say that others are Ignoring the potential for conflict and wartime interaction, rather than that my federation only plays for war.

Erewhon was declared on for other reasons. He happens to be The SC player I most like and respect (dare I say "admire" ? ). His empire was chosen in particular over other empires for the simple reason of proximity, and that it served my purposes well.

Destroying anyting that has taken a year to build is not anyones goal - at least, no one from within my federation.

Zodiacs "I hope you all die" comment makes me wonder about other people, though.

My reasons will become exhaustingly clear soon enough, not that I think it will matter.

One way of putting it is that I am excorcising my demons :)

That certainly was an is true, treboria.

In fact, the group of people I managed to get togehter did sucha god job of protecting themslves that it is difficult to imagine an ingame threat to them, despite the fact that that fed constitutes only a fraction (albeit a signifignat fraction) of the worlds active players and countries.

Does anything with that seem wrong to you?

:P

I find it hard to mesh your last comment with the message you sent me, quoted above. Good luck convincing other people, though I think youll manage just fine :)

On a completely unrelated note, I forgot to message you or other MDL members. Illusion has no defensive heli ammo, in case you didnt notice. if you think it woudlbe enjoyable for a player to manage, take it.

...i never sent the below message. Get your facts straight...the bottom says it was from AF. It does not even sound like me with all those exclamation marks etc.

darn it all.

I owe you an apology for talking about that, and one to AF as well. I thought you were he. Ive been awake far too long, and have had far too little sleep over the last week. Argh! *goes to squeeze his little squishy stressball thingy *

The remainder of the comments, the ones about your post itself stand.

Im not sure Ive made you understand things any better, but I hope so.

"I thought about joining the monkeys when you was recruting in WG. But I was in GR allready, and did'nt have the balls of Matty (things were a little tense for presidents here then)."

I have balls?

Anyway, here's why I agree with this war:

1) It makes the game better. The game becomes more interesting for everyone with war. Sure, there is an initial moment of fear where a person is afraid he or she will lose everything they've attained since they've been playing, but that is only somewhat realistic for very few people. You can't lose all the things you've learned from the game, and you can't lose the enjoyment you've taken from it. Also, there is an astoundingly higher level of interaction and involvement during major wars (just look at the boards these past few days), and without war (or the possibility of war) the game becomes one-dimensional.

2) This war is not a mean-spirited or negative war. It can be percieved as such if someone insists on doing so, but the war itself is not that way. Like I said before, we (at least Avalon, Grail and I that I know of for sure) will do anything in our power to assist the superpowers we're about to take down to rebuild in a concentrated area further away from us. Possibly around TURKIYE. I won't go too far into the benefits of having dual superpower rivalries (like Democrats-Republicans, U.S.-Russia etc.) but suffice it to say that such a power makeup is much more interesting and fun than the monotonous single power Allied Forces reign over Golden Rainbow that has been in existence for what? Over a year?

We could compete for new recruits, have small skirmishes around the world even, but be completely safe in our own strongholds.

3) This war is not completely unprovoked. a) One member of our fed was blown off of GR a while ago by the entire Allied Forces/Global Pact/TURAN/whoever else conglomerate. b) Cyriac has been warring with Monkey countries for a while now. Taking advantage of a game bug that wouldn't let Norwegian Elk pass any of his countries over to Shiva, and then continuing his attacks even after Monkey members took control of them. c) Erehwon has attempted infiltration into our region, and his fed-mate hymyland has been nothing but abusive and inflammatory on the boards and in private messages towards us.

I am not crying "foul" on any of these things. Just as I don't see any foul in what we are doing. It's just all just a game.

Avalon has already touched on those points, and I'm sure at some future date he'll go into further detail than I have, but there you have it. There is more, much more, but seeing as how I'm at war with half the world (and fighting with my girlfriend incidentally. She's got horribly timing) I don't have time to go further into it. And Avalon would be much better suited to do so anyway.

Ooo ooo ooo! Eeee eee ee AAAkk aakkkk aaaaakk,

-Matty
