I would agree too, but not if the game continues to intervene to supply scarce commodities and products.

If contracts count against the spending limit (and why shouldn't they), then please, please get rid of the artificial intervention where the game magically supplies additional goods that happen to be in shortage. If folks want to use huge spending limits to place orders for large quantities of goods, then they should drive prices up and resulting quantities left on the market down. Contracts would still have an important place as they would guarantee delivery at an agreed upon price, just as in the real world.

If this results in a clever playing cornering the market on uranium or short range missiles, so be it. More real AND more fun. And if it results in the market going into a downward spiral because one player or a cartel is willing to outbid everyone else for oil or industrial equipment, then that's fine too!

Jozi, I wonder what the game designers think of this and if you can't somehow turn off the auto interventions for a period to test.

And if folks think that this will make them vulnerable to a big cartel, there are two answers: One, Everyone is vulnerable, and two, everyone can protect themselves by diversifying production (perish the thought), and by using the Common Market function for it's very best purpose of distributing goods among economic allies. A clever and dedicated player or a major war could still cause significant disruptions to the market, but what's wrong with that?

I wrote about the interventions in the other thread. As I said, they are small. They only occur to prevent the market from collapsing and triggered at very high shortages.

When corporations become more flexible with their hiring, we expect even these interventions to disappear.

I have seen these countries with very low spending limit. I tried to fix it but it seems to persist.

It has to do with increasing the purchasing limit which is an external property I changed without touching the code.

It seems that the formula computing the spending limit is wrong. We will fix it ASAP. Monday morning probably. I am very sorry for this.
