I've only been playing a couple of weeks and still getting the hang of this game.
I think I need to join a common market and perhaps federation. Anyone interested in a virgin?
And, is anyone going to attack me out of the blue or are there are some player rules on giving people a chance?

The rules dictate that established players do not attack newbies untill newbies said country is able to contribute to the overall eccomnomic well being of the attacking countries master country, attackies' country being able to support non-profit millitary corps for the betterment of attackers' offensive capibilities, provide an $8 bil. tansfer of funds monthly, and of course it is not nessesary that attackie be a virgin, this would just be a bonus.
Hope this clears things up.

Welcome Dashiell. Just kiding.

I don't know who is in your area. Try to apply to Cadet Corps. Used to be a great teaching fed. Forget about a common market untill you aquire some slaves. Then form a common market with them.

With Merc gone, the cadet corps are in a dissarray. If you can get chairman by default to give an invite please do.
Erewhon still is a member, gives good advice. I could also get you an invite into the omnipotent force, if the CC is a no go. There good people there too. [TWO i think ;)]

It will allow you to get supplies that you may need from me and others that join and at the same time i will be able to access to goods for my corps and country as i rapidly grow (it prevents youre corps from running out of money and youre country from having to pay immediate order prices)
