If that is what he means JG, then he contradicts himself with the awards and cash market. This is a game were the top countries get rewarded with *wealth* and countries can accumulate *wealth*. One very real way to get to the top is to kill off the competition and gain wealth by taking it from others.

An example would be if you were #4 overall and had a massive military and number 1, 2, and 3 were all economic powerhouses but had 0 military. Part of the game would be to remove them (unless they provided wealth to prevent it or compensation for reward differences) so that you win the top spot.

Threatening/demanding tribute from someone in this game is much better than just taking it in my opinion. At least then the person gets to keep something, and not lose everything. Tribute and deals have been happening in SC since the game began. Now it is much easier to buy of an attack, which if anything is helpful to the *victim.*

Example would be what just happened on WG. Say the demand was 20M pop out of an empire with 100M Pop. If you know you cannot hold out against your attacker, giving up that 20M pop would have meant you keep 80M pop. Instead you lose all 100M Pop and 4 countries. Now the best you can hope for is to restart with 1 country with about 7M pop.

In that example, it had nothing to do with extortion. He was just in the wrong place at the wrong time with everything we were looking for. A fedmate had just relocated to be be within the fed defenses and so needed big pop countries to rebuild. The *victim* wouldnt have even been given the chance to buy off the attack if not for asset trading. We would have taken him out and never gave a reason or a chance, and no one would have even known about it or cared.
