the "double half" stuff is an attempt to reduce the amount of weapons we have and make the numbers more "realistic". no nation on the planet has 30k navy planes. w3c wants thier game to be more like real life were a few hundred planes would be as effective as 30k SC planes.

the problem is the attack limits. since there is an offencive limit, meaning a limit to the power of a single attack, players will always try to make thier defence greater than that offencive attack.

since the offence must be able to break that defence, a player is forced to increase amount of offence weapons he has.

the end result is players will replace any defencive weapon that was recently lost, especially if they are twice as powerful, to make there countries invincible (or at the very least, too expencive to attack).

the cost of the weapon doesn't mean much to the community because we have forever to buy weapons. we can buy them in small chunks, or build a few weapon corps and get them totally under the limit radar. cost isn't a factor at all when your talking defence.

manpower as a determinating factor? I think not. corp sizes were just reduced in size adding many enemployed workers. you can look at my countries and see the massive amounts of unemployed workers I have. then, to top it all off, we can simply reserve 10% each month. manpower isn't much of a factor.

maint. cost is a good way to limit military sizes. if you have no income, you can't buy offence. but some countries are not meant for offence, they are completely defence. strongholds for a last ditch defencive stand. defencive countries have no need for a high FI because they are not restricted from buying defence. you can simply sell GC to a friend to keep the country in the black (and you don't even need to do that).

the question of how to reduce amry sizes is a difficult one to answer. over the long run, w3c's action may be the right choice. I just think they should work out all the changes and reset all the worlds when implementing it, that's just my opinion.

Alex: the spending limit had to be increased. build-up times are just too frake'n long.
