Sorry, alot of what I am responding to is quite a few posts back. Hadn't really come back to the thread until today.

Anyway, you can indeed apply logic to morality. You cannot neccessarily 'prove' if a particular moral is correct. However, given a set of morals, you can indeed 'prove' wether a particular action is or is not moral.

In this case we are talking about the United States, I think, and the moral is everyone has a right to life. Given the context, the moral is most properly stated that everyone has an EQUAL right to life. It can logically be shown, therefor, that the death penalty is indeed moral. It DOES NOT follow that the death penalty has to be used, as I stated, just that it is moral should it be used.

That is why you are wrong Alexander. Simply put, capital punishment is not, by definition, murder, at least in the US. Even if someone is wrongly convicted and put to death, that is STILL not murder, again, at least in the US.

If you want to argue that capital punishment is not effective or that it is too costly or whatever, that would be a good debate. But you cannot argue that it is wrong.
