Obama only needs to do an average job as president to win re-election. It seems like he is already on a good start. Social Security and Medicare are the biggest part of the budget. I doubt that the budget could be balanced at this point of time by anyone without touching those programs. To cut those programs would mean political suicide. The government needs to be funded at a level where it could get the most out its programs and benefit the American people. There is much investment needed in this country and not all of it should be left to the private sect,which pushes profit above everything else. Who would vote for Wall Street to lead the country on this issue?
