BorderC, I'm sorry but you are so far off mark. First off, where does the 'we' come from, are we talking US legal system? European? South african? Ugandan? Islamic? sophisticated? by whose reckoning? All law makers are greatly detatched from the people they make the laws for, except maybe in some remoter tribal systems.

Any public servant who is putting his/her life on the line to protect you and yours deserves more respect than an average Joe, and in this I include the military, would you say a returning soldier has no greater deserve of respect and justice than a beggar? Say that to some of the vets in this game. I do value the life of someone who puts, and loses, their life on the line to protect me and mine above a 'beggar'.

Heads of state? that comes with the territory, as do the resources and teams of minders to protect his/her life, why treat that differently to a beggar?

Lastly, I would think a victim of some heinous crime such as rape would differ with you as to whether their life has been taken, "I wish I was dead".

Sorry old chap but you need to broaden your horizons. Respect, CC
