Border, US was not an "ally" of Iraq. They were enemies of Iran. They helped Saddam because they wanted to see Iran gone. Just like when the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan. They were never an "ally" of the Afghans, they were an enemy of the Soviet Union. The US didn't want to get involved in a war with these nations, thus they gave aid and comfort to their enemies. Yes, it backfired.

Nix, pass me what you're smoking. It has to be good. Saddam invaded kuwait for their oil fields. He couldn't take Iran, so he went after a small country that couldn't stop him. His next stop was Saudi Arabia, which is why THEY asked AMERICA to intervene. It wasn't just the US involved, by the way. Many other countries were involved.

And I'm not condemning the UN based on the first Gulf War. It's a history of its ineffectiveness.
