Making macro conclusions from micro observations in not valid in complex systems.

Hmm, not an argument I have come across before. The micro observations are directly affected by the macro environment however. They are also influenced by precipitation, soil and a host of other factors. Tree ring data is certainly the least accurate of the proxies used. But it isn't the only one!

What makes you think reducing carbon emissions will lead to WWIII?

Can you point me towards evidence that the globe is cooling? Somehow I think this is linked with you kangaroo excrement research proposal. If an oil exec paid the money, the data would be fabricated... err, researched.

Solar panels over 0.3% of the Sahara might provide all of Europe's electricity. Granted the most recent generation of cells are only 30-60% efficient (improving all the time), but we don't need to provide ALL of our electricity needs from solar. We already get a big chunk from nuclear, wind, wave and tidal power. We just need to cover enough desert to replace our polluting coal plants. Plus, not only are solar cells getting more efficient, they are also getting much cheaper. It looks as if they might get cheap enough to become ubiquitous.

Finally, what started me worrying about climate change was the rhetoric from the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change). To begin with, they talked about preventing global warming. Their latest report, the Fourth Assessment Report, now talks about stabilising global warming at 2ºC. In other words, further warming is inevitable, we are going to have to learn to adapt.
