You're repeatedly missing the same point, nix.

You want to talk about environmental damage? It's all relative to humanity anyway. Bottom line is, the environment would love a little bit of extra CO2 in the atmosphere, because that's what the vast majority of living entities on this planet process in order to survive.

You're a tree surgeon, you said. Well, trees are far more damaging to the natural environment of the earth than just about any other creature which has existed - or rather photosynthesizing plantlife in general. Before they evolved, the earth had a carbon dioxide/methane/ammonia atmosphere, and it'd quite readily return to that if all plantlife were wiped out.

Fact of the matter is "environmental damage" is from the human point of view. We're only concerned because it will most likely alter our percieved standard of living. Bottom line is the entire history of the environment has been one of change. Species either adapt over time, or they die out.

There is no more carbon in the system of the earth than there was when humans first learned to make fire. All we - and all life, for that matter - are doing is moving it from one place to another.

Life will get over it.

The idea of a static environment is a purely human concept, and it's one we need to discard if we wish to progress.
