Ok its time we all had this discussion and I do mean discussion. I will open it with some thoughts>

A little more than a year ago W3C began to do upgrades to the war engine. Prior to that a player would mass their tanks in their home country (not deployed) and fire away at their target in lands way far away. A very imature war engine to say the least, since you could assign thousands of tanks, artillery, planes, etc to a target, only real limit was the range on the weapons. You used all sorts of weapons to attack your oppenents. The war engine would compute damages all around, etc,etc. The point here being you used many different weapons. Some players worked out what weapons to use in various combinations to attack which targets. This was also in the days prior to deployed units and garrisons.

Now today all that is past. What point is there to buying tanks, artillery, heavy armor etc? Frankly anyone who buys a lot of these is wasting their money. Few are actually needed. Defense ground based units are the same. We have more things to do but less capability to do things that mirror war and what I think most people signed up for. Wars are fought between armies. Armies are made up of ground units clashing, fighting, moving, communicating, engaging enemy units and capturing territory. You dont need do any of this to fight and defeat even the most powerful players in SC anymore.

Because of this more and more players say there is less realism than ever before. It was abstract long ago and IMHO with all the advances W3C has made they have returned to the total abstract losing realism in the process.

So I will leave this here for now so a discussion may begin. The idea here is to resolve the problem of realism yet maintain the uniquiness of SC. As pointed out in other threads the engine doesnt have to mirror real world and probably wont in any case, but there do need to be changes made (again my opinion) to put some flavor back into the game or at least perhaps some complications.
