Yes there are reasons for the game being realistic and there are excuses for it not being so. As pointed out the advertisement for realism is one of the selling points. Realism is what most gamers want! War gamers look for realism not fantasy, make believe pretending to mirror realism. Fantasy players look and have a multitude of fantasy role playing games on line for them, war gamers have few outlets. Realism adds a deminsion to the game that makes the game that much more diffcult. First off with this in mind the tricks we use now would not work! A person would have to have an understanding of the real world on all levels of nationalism, this would translate itself to a learning tool for many people.

I can go on and on about realism in this game and I have in the past and I suspect I shall in the future too. The trouble is do the designers understand enough of real world military to create such an enviornment from the mess they have here? The economics are not too bad if they are left alone, there are changes needed there as well but not as much as on the war end of the game.

After all my time here I have discovered it is not what the community or the clients want but what the designers are actully capable of.
