To Saber,

My first game was 3rd Reich at a friend's house.

I had the joy of playing in a couple of serious clubs while in the service. My favorite game was Terrible Swift Sword by SPI. It was a huge game. The battle of Gettysburg on a regimental/battery level. There were 15-20 of us playing on Tuesday nights for several months. I commanded Heth's Division and AP Hill's corps. We also played a company level Market Garden game, but I don't remember its name.

When I left Bad Kissingen, we were just starting a battalion level game of the Russian Front in WWII. GDW put it out, I think. Also, while at BK, S&T published a game called "V Corp." It was sobering to play, since if it came to a shooting war, I would be living it.

I blame TSR for killing that industry. They bought SPI and wouldn't honor the subscriptions to Strategy and Tactics. After that they still expected us to buy games from them. I haven't bought game since Axis and Allies.

Don't mean to bore everyone with nostalgia.
Adam
