**Jossi Gil (Kebir Blue)** | Tuesday, December 14, 2004 - 06:15 pm Here is how we compute life expectancy: We take the average age in each age group 0 to 4 years it is 2 4 to 8 years it is 6 and 35 to 40 years it is 37.5 We multiply this average age by the number of people who died in that age group. We then add all these numbers (there are 19 age groups), and divide the sum by the total number of people who die in one year. That number is a function of age and the health index. It is in fact the average age of all people who died in a the past year. |
