I absolutely love the opinions. Do you notice, Austia, how each president was weighed by a different ideological standard? Human Nature. All are correct in their statements and opinions by their own relative VALUE SYSTEMS. What a thorough education provides is the basis to develope your own values. To see what has come before, the values of the times then, and what was done or not, and then measure the outcomes against what we have today. But every step of the process is relative.
This is why I love the players of this game. A very diverse body of political thought with a similar interest that will actually reason with one another is a very rare thing.

I will only add this to the discussion of the American Presidency from my own value judgements.

The President of the United States has unargueably the greatest responsibility of any single individual in history. Since the end of WWII, this (so far) man has commanded more destructive capability than has existed in all human existence. Yet, his powers to create are almost nil. Though credited and blamed for economic conditions through his term, he may only expend political capital to influence the federal budget and taxation through Congress. Domesticly speaking, the President is almost a non-entity. He may sign or veto bills that are the product of others efforts, though some may have been initiated by his administration.
Few men have entered the office with a true agenda and goals. Those few of those have met with any measure of success in attaining them.
Therefore, my value system as applied to the judgements of the performance of our Presidents past and present would reflect their actions and inactions in reacting to the events of their day. Not in the application of their Party's ideology on the nation and world.
Apply that definition as you will.
