the major issue you presented in your first post was "to find ways to force them (political leaders) back where they belong". this would imply action. true, it's important to be informed but that's only the first step. i two read a couple of books a month, but then it becomes incumbent upon me to act. we have to find ways to make our politicians accountable. we might say voting is our chance to do that. but in the US big money coopts the individual voter. and political parties generally have been polarized at the extremes. however, there are numerous grass roots organizations (sometimes called lobbies) that either have a single issue agenda or a broad based agenda. this is one place to begin and it doesn't have to be at the national level. it can be a local school board, or a city wide issue. it can be as simple as demanding that the city pick up the trash in your neighborhood. but it can't be a singular effort. it's got to be organized. that's why being relational is so important. you have to have other people who believe it's important to have the trash picked up. and who knows, you and your neighbors might get together with the city and have a clean up day while at the same time demanding that the city do their part.

it is my strong conviction that having knowledge is not enough. it's about unleashing the power that knowledge gives you. this is done through action, by making mistakes, trying new things, and then celebrating your victories, no matter how small.

so, keep the dialogue moving.
