I served on the 720 during the late 80's and early 90's. I feel our Nuclear fast attack subs are the best in the world and the technology far superior to what anyone else has. I have family that are still active. My nephew was on the Kitty Hawk until recently. It is an older carrier of course and is scheduled for decommissioning soon. But their are newer carriers now and the George Bush should be ready soon.

The navy always had top billing with technology when it came to the military. I am thankful I got to serve on such a great boat. I still have many friends in the navy. I have heard no complaints pertaining to quality.
Unless you were a Machinist Mate, I really can not relate to you the importance of what we called "E.B. Green" and how many uses it had when it came to repairs on equipment. (For you laymen, "E.B. green" is what we called Duct Tape. "E.B." is Electric Boat, a division of General Dynamics Corp that builds our submarines.)
Anyway, I served during the first Iraq war and have the distinct privilege of knowing that our boat (The Pittsburgh) fired off the first cruise missile of that war. It was a night firing and the video of it was spectacular.

I would have to say that personally I was given the best equipment to work with during my time of service. As everyone knows in the Navy, I had the best food of anyone in the Navy as well. Submariners were well taken care of. just ask Yankee if you ever see him in IRC.
