I dont worry about being picked on homicide.

People who use the common market heavily, unless they are very very clever, are trading short-term score (which is meaningless) for long term real penalties in their country -big ones. They will make far less money, be unable to support as large an army, education, health system, etc. Their score will go up at first -again, meaningless, and who cares?-but not by as massive amount, since their FI will drop, and their assets will drop massively.

A player who managed their country equally well but did not use the CM would pass them in time-probably not that much time-, and have a much better country to boot. The common market is not a boost to score unles syou look at it for a tiny fragment of time, it is a huge DRAIN to score.

Using the CM intelligently is a different story and is not merely so simple as you suggest.

Again, score is consiered only meaningful by those who dont understand the system, but I dont think ther is any way to compute score intelligently. personally I dislike the very idea of score/awards in simcountry :) , and always have.

Look on GR to see what really matters for score: time and the amount of money you have.

what it gets down to is that no matter what, crappy countries will be ranked over countries much better designed then good countries. If you remove the CM bonus you will see people at the top with horrible economies and massive loan incomes and people much further down with far better economic eficieincies, infrastructure, and armies.
The CM only falsely appears relevant because crappy newbs use it for short-term boosts (before causing their countries to collapse) and because..err....the free world countries are, hmnn, not optimized.
