Xeo-not sure where you got the info on metals, but the markets are fine. Copper has been glutted for years and continues to be. We as humans haven't got the first clue as to how much metal we're sitting on, but its more than we can conceivably mine, process, and manufacture into products. The earth is made up of a large percentage of nickel and iron, so we'd have to dig a pretty big hole to remove that much ore from the planet. The point you made about human adaptability is right on. We may suffer, but will survive just about anything short of planetary annihilation.
