Xeolyte: I've decided that I'm bidding $5 on the computer you are using to access the internet right now. I have calculated that that's how much it is worth, and you have to sell it when the auction is over-- if not to me then anyone who bids higher than $5. You can only keep it if my calculations-- for which only I have the formula-- discover that it is actually worth more than the current bid.
(Too bad my calculations are just x=$5-- tough luck, I know.)
