The GM said it was better this way. They pointed at all the players that had empires on multipul worlds, generating tons of cash, buying GC, and so on. They stated that their is a level of "success" that wasn't fair for these players to have with out paying extra
to me, its a mixed bag,
i feel that it was a betrayal by the GM to their long term customers, that had spent years taking care of countries and enterprises, based on a standard game feature.
how ever, it also offers a real opportunity for space trade. when GC was easily obtained from game cash, their was zero point to spending GC in space to purchase things. if you could just convert your cash to gold, and gold to cash, and can purchase everything you want, just by setting up a CEO or enterprise some where, it removed most value from space trade, except for selling nukes to noobs that didn't really know any better. now, it offers the only way some one can convert cash into gold, by selling goods at a conversion discount, giving buyers an advantage with buying in space rather than converting their GC to cash, to purchase the same thing.
i've been talking about this allot, and its starting to catch on. if the games popularity improves, and we gain players willing to spend real money for coins, and players that are willing to take a cash hit for those GC, we'll finally see the space game take off. its getting better, but their is allot of room for growth.

Well you made a good point. I like extending my membership with GC and I feel that if I put in the hours I should be able to earn more GC to pay for my countries/enterprises.
