With the changes to the GC market and the soaring prices for things we pay with GC's, I predict the Space Market will completely die off.
Players will no longer be spending GC's because they will be hording them. GC's are now harder to obtain the longer you play and the more you acheive, so veteran players will simply not spend them so they can pay for their monthly country and ceo extensions. New players use GC's on their own countries and do not know the value of the GC market at their stage of game development. The Gm's have pulled out of the GC market entirely in a move only they understand.
Since the Space market is entirely based on GC's to purchase things, then it's death warrent has been served. I surely will not buy anything that cost GC's now so I know others will not either. We will all be sitting and hording since rewards will simply not do the trick, especially as a vet player with established empires already.
The restrictions on Monthly game rewards being so strict will not allow players to be rewarded for different worlds in the same month, nor do they allow being rewarded separately for country and ceo achievements. Simply making the current reward larger is not going to work and will not save the space market.
It is already hard to keep shuttle corps going. So only the richest players even bother. With profits being eaten away to practically nothing, hopefully it will survive since it's the only transportation between worlds.
The Space market was already slow and needing a boost, but since these changes have taken place I think the game has shot itself in the foot thinking the space market would survive any kind of GC tampering.
Without infusion of GC's from the game and gm's who out there sees the space market surviving?
I would ask the gm's re-evaluate the monthly GC reward system. Take away the restrictions on being able to receive rewards on multiple world and or the restriction on country vs. ceo rewards. Having to wait a few months after winning a large reward is fine and should not be adjusted, but the points I mentioned could and should be adjusted slightly. Perhaps allowing SC$ to be the basis for currency in space, thereby replacing the GC could be the answer.
It's either that or totally coming up with some new space format or structure because as it is, the Space Market is already dead and buried.

Thought about this too. Apart from maybe the odd nuclear missile purchase, space will be just that- empty space.

I posted to bring some attention to space and not to degrade or be malice. To realize possible trouble areas and work on them before they become critical. I just see a huge issue looming because I know we will all horde coins now. I hope this post is not perceived as trying to cause trouble but to just give a "heads up" from a players perspective.
