The size of the army depends on the choice of weapons and the numbers being deployed. It may have 100.000 soldiers and officers. Large armies at the top of the world lists reach more than 1.000.000 servicemen. The size is completely up to the president to decide on, and the choice and priorities for defensive or offensive and strategic armies is part of this decision.
When building the army, it is important to plan in advance but review your decisions from time to time as the military buildup of your neighbors and potential enemies is changing.
