I consider this is an extravagant new feature. I only regard it as a way of increasing the GCs spending, bringing no actual dynamics to SC, but only a threat to established empires. If peacefuls, wish to buy countries, they can always resort to other players.

Many players love it and use it. It is a way to build an empire without going to war. Most players who use it are interested in an economic empire and this is a great addition for them. War of course is possible too and anyone who does not want to purchase a country can just ignore it.
