Detailed Description:
Apologies if this has been covered before, but.. At the moment, you can build anything anywhere, and I think that's dull. So, instead of a monochrome world where one country is exactly like any other, I propose the following: a) A world as diverse as the real one, with every country having strengths and weaknesses. For example, desert lands good for sand and oil and not much else, countries with wonderful soil for crops but little of value underground, a few fortunate spots blessed with just about everything, and every variation in-between. b) Rarity should be (loosely) modelled on real-world values; on earth, about 55% of countries mine coal, whereas only 4% produce diamonds. This is a stunning game, but it lacks good reasons for tensions and rivalries and co-operations, and ??? as in the real world - competition for resources would provide it. c) Each country???s homepage would have a geological survey, outlining its potential. These resources would be weighted for cost, so that a paradise will set you back a lot more than 100 GC. The scissors-paper-stone element, of course, is that such countries might be hungered after by greedy neighbours. These changes wouldnt affect existing lands, but would mysteriously occur only when a country is abandoned and taken over by the GM. If you think something along these lines would make for a more interesting and challenging game, please vote 'Yes'.
