Does it help to have many radar planes?
If you have one, this advance warning already works. An enemy might be interested in destroying your radar plane before they attack other targets. This is a reason to have more than one and also a reason to have more than one defensive air force base and defend these bases with anti aircraft missile batteries and anti missile missiles. (And batteries).
